it says the ultimate spinning reel line. has anyone used it on a casting reel? and the strength per diameter doesn't come close to comparing to braid if what's shown on cabelas website is any indication. it only states its some stronger than mono. like 4 lbs or so more breaking strength.
thanks alpha but being a fisherman i'll have to try it and if it don't work i can put it on my ultra-lite spinning reels. i'm using braid on them now.
How does the memory compare to a true braid? And what about comparing the sound it makes coming through the guides when it's loaded up with a fish on the line? That's one thing that drives me nuts with regular braids when casting.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
I have a Striper rig spooled up with 65# test braid and I don't recall a memory problem with it. There is no memory with this line. It is stiff. It does not act at all like mono yet it does not act exactly like a braid either. The sound is there. It may not be as pronounced as regular braid but it is there. I like it but I have only used it for 2 days now. I do like it enough that I ordered 2 spools of 3# test for me and my son for Trout fishing. I tried 3# test braid for throwing the Trout Magnet and it just did not work out. I still have that spool of braid around somewhere. I have a couple of more observations about the line. Every time I have used a leader and gotten hung up and broke of the break would always occur at the knot at the line and leader. It does not happen with this line. I was hung up twice yesterday and once today and the break occurs at the jig head knot. That is fine with me as I don't like tying two knots when I break off anyway. The way I tie my leader is simple...it is just a triple overhand knot that is taught on the Trout Magnet web site. The 4# test is the same diameter as the P Line CX Premium 2# test I have been using. While I can cast the jig farther with NanoFil 4# test I feel I should move down in test strength for throwing 1/64 baits. Throwing a 1/32 size bait with the 4# NanoFil makes the line lay much better on the spool during the retrieve...in other words 1/32 seems to put the proper tension on the line to lay correctly on the spool during retrieve. It is the same if I try throwing a 1/64th on 4# mono vs 2# mono. The 4# mono does not have enough tension on it during retrieve to lay nicely on the spool yet I can cast the 1/64th with the 4#. I hope you can understand what I am trying to say.

I'm supposed to have some in today. Gonna give it a workout on specks and reds on a trip to the Chandeleurs this weekend. I got the 12#, hope it's as advertised.
I got to test the Nanofil line last fall before Berkley gave it a name. I called it Braino. 8# is ultra thin and you'd best have your finger near the line or you may cast farther than you think. I really liked its sensitivity and strength. Getting hung up (which I do most often) can be a struggle. Breaking it is really tough. I love the feel of it. I heard one angler say, "I can feel a fish swim by this line"
I wouldn't recommend ever putting it on a baitcaster. It will definitely dig into the spool. Spiderwires Invisi-Braid works well on baitcasters. Very similar and also works great on spinning reels. You cant go wrong with either brand. The white line helps for a visual and fish cant see it.
Fishing line is like all other products. What one angler may like, another swears its junk but, its certainly worth a try. I really like it and have caught lots of fish using it.
Just wamted to say THANKS for you folks giving us a detailed report on these products. It certainly has helped expand my knowledge of newer products.
Thanks again!!!
