olduckhunter, I can believe that. I lived in Melbourne, FL in the mid-50's and mosquitos were so bad on the cattle ranches there were reports of cows going mad from so many bites and some actually suffocating from nosterals being blocked. I don't know abou tthe suffocating thing, but I can sure believe about them going mad. We had a very heavy mosquito control program with fogging trucks almost every night when they were bad.

Default Yellow Fly's and Dog Fly's

Since we are talking about aggravating insects let me include yellow fly's and dog fly's. These things can drive you off the water back to the safety of the car. Some people actually get infected from dog fly bites. They take a hunk of meat.

The yellow flyies are just starting here in the Fla. Panhandle. Last Friday I used 40% Deet which works only fair. I need to get some 100% but you have to order it, it's not available in local stores. Forestry Supply outfits online have it.

You guys don't know skeeters. Back when I was a young lad growing up in Greenfield at night the mosquitoes would come out and land on the trees and bark. To top to that a good many to them would weigh a pound.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.
