we pull with the poles sticking out the side of the boat while the boat is going fwd, we keep them seperated by rod length.....longest rod in the holder furthest forward, next longest rod in the next holder and so on......we use our Hi-tek rod holders (4 rod holder on each side), and pull with the trolling motor (70lb thrust 24v).....I have seen alot of folks who pull out the back like your describing & use their gas motor.....we pull the way we do because we can have the poles all together & easier for us to watch (most of the time my fishing partner is my 11 year old son).....pulling them out the side like we do allowes us to be near the front depth finder & watch it, so we can duplicate gps speed and trails & save us alot of space on the boat.....the only thing with doing it this way is you gotta make wide turns.....I'd guess if you went straight out the back you may be able to make tighter turns.....just guessing....out the back or out the sides will work either way......make sure you use a good set of rod holders....have a great one all, God bless!!!

When pushing cranks with weight what is the setup? A modified caps and coleman rig?
