Since I pretty much only fish for Crappie. With the exception of taking my duaghters fishing for bream. I don't fish when the temp gets above 85.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

    Cool wet

I wore a vest and Do Rag like that back when I was takin' the Harley all over the
country. Works pretty good as long as you have a breeze or movin.
Out of the wind you just get wet from them.
Now adays I wear thin long sleeve white shirts and in the hottest days I got some
white Linin pants too. this works very well. I don't care if I look like a painter.
    Thumbs Up

You can buy the gel crystals by the lb# and if your wife or you can sew you can make your own. I use the neckties or wraps a lot, get a mens vest pattern. a cheap tight weave polyester won't absorp water like cotton and you would'nt believe the difference it makes...............Granite

Go with the crystals. You can find them in lawn and garden departments. They are the little crystals that they put in potting soil to keep moisture in the pots. When you water the plants, the crystals absorb the water and slowly release the liquid to the plants. They are in jars and bags. Keep the lids on tight...they will absorb humidity.

I made a bunch of bandanas with the crystals in them about 8 years ago. I soak for 20 minutes and then freeze them in ziplock bags. I have used them for 8 years and have never had to replace the crystals. I make a "tube" with thin fabric and sew little sections. Then put 6-10 crystals in each section then sew them up the rest of the way. Like little pockets on the tube. Then I wrap them in a bandana and wear. That way the bandana takes most of the abuse and can be washed.

I worked construction outside in the south for 15 years and the best way i found to beat the heat is expose as litlle skin as possible, I always wore a cotton t shirt with a long sleeve denim shirt over it. the t shirt gets wet with sweat and the denim keeps it cool by keeping the sun off of it. That and a pea pikn hat are a must for hot sunny days...or just fish at night like I do
