That is fishing with a slip bobber setup. The pink knot (bobber stop) on the line can be slid up the line to fish as deep as the length of line you have on your reel. With that setup you can set your fishing depth at 20ft and still be able to cast it out--- something that would be rather difficult trying to use a clip on bobber.

Doesn't that get hung up in the rod's guides? I've never tried a slip bobber, this year I'm going to give it a go.

It does work fairly well and does go through the guides OK.

Once I've got the knot tightened enough that it will hold and where I'm still able to slide it to change the depth I'll clip the tag ends off of the knot. I'll leave enough of the tag ends that I could use pliers to tighten the knot more if I didn't get it set right in the beginning.

When I was using slip bobbers the biggest complaint I had was when getting hung up and breaking off I would have to re-rig with a new bobber and beads and retie the complete rig. Later on I heard about how some folks would use a heavier weight line down through the stop, bead, bobber and bead then tied to a swivel. Then from the swivel down to the hook use a lighter weight line so that if you got hung up your line would break below the swivel and all you will have to re-rig is with some new line and another hook.
