Or try GRAINGER or MSC IND. You dont want the holder itself too tight if you get hung it will be able to turn and save your rod.

Don't have that problem with Hi-Teks.
I do almost the same only I drilled a small hole in the wrench handle and put a small carbiner (sp) clip on it and it hangs from one of the rod holders.

If you dont have a 1/2in wrench take a piece of 1/4 stainless rod and weld it to each bolt head, you only have to turn each one a 1/4 turn or so to loosen or tighten. Tighten each one up and then mark the head in the tight position then tack the rod on so you will have enough room to loosen.

I didnt think there were rednecks in ILL. lol, thats a heckuva way to do it but i guess it would work, i will stick to my 1/2" wrench for now. I work in the machine shop on base down here and we just got in a new CNC mill and lathe so im gonna try and whip something up on them.

I took a couple of 1/2 inch sockets and a couple pieces steel 3/4 inch flat stock about 6 inches long. Welded the sockets to the flat stock and put a piece of bungie cord on each "wrench". I now have dedicated tools for the front and back of the boat to tighten/loosen. The bungie cord allows me to loop them to the holders so they are always within reach. Works for me.
