That's a good note to make there sunfish. I'd hate to know someone battled in a potential record only to be shot down because the line wasn't "certified".
This only my opinion, but nothing you can say will change my mind. That makes it a FACT.

Default I am pretty sure you are right sunfish......

The rig I have set-up to use is spooled with 1lb maxima. It takes a bit of attention to land a decent sized fish on 1 lb line. A good drag and knot is critical. Been practicing with the 1 lb line now for a couple of years.

What type of pole or rod are you using with that, and what type of bait, rig...?

    Default rig

Nothing real fancy. shimano 1500 symetre reel - front drag is a must, all star 6'6" UL rod with a tennessee handle. I will use a #10 - #14 hook red octopus/salmon egg. The key is it must be a very fine wire to get any hook penetration - forget jerking you will break the line everytime. The split shot has to be 100% lead - i use the kind made for fly fishermen it is very soft so that it does not scuff or kink the line. It really teaches you how to play fish. I tightline on the bottom, piece of nightcrawler.

Man, that sounds like a sensitive set up, especially tightlining the bottom. What's the largest fish you have landed with that?

    Default 3 lb channel cat

Took 15 minutes at least....Had to give up the UL for the day my forearm was cramping so bad. Switched over to the rod with 6lb P-line. It was fun though.

Though that is impressive, I'd hate for you to tangle with a feisty record bluegill LOL. I'd imagine a 2lb bluegill would out fight a 3lb cat:o :D

i have never caught any real big gills on that set-up. Just trying to get use to using it when I feel like putting it in the boat. It is just a lot of fun:D .

Amen. Nothing wrong with a lot of fun. My "fun" set up is a toss up between wading with my flyrod and hand tied flies at my home lake or a simple 12ft bream buster and a one man boat in a little creek or river. Other than that I love fishing...
