I've had one for several years now. It's held up to my abuse, and I'm prone to breakin' tips. I have the 10'. It is limber like others have stated, but it's also lighter in weight than other poles I've had. The reel seems more cheaply made than other spincasts, but it has lasted for several years. It's not my favorite pole, but it has outlasted a few of my favorite poles so to speak.

Got a couple different combo's for my son, both Shakespeare's. Didn't wait for 3rd times a charm. You couldn't pull a slab out of a 5 gal bucket, much less some cover. You get what you pay for, usually. I'll buy the better equipment since most of what I'm paying for are the memories, and the 'good' ones keep me coming back.

i have taped both rods with electrical tape and seems to work. shouldn't have to do that. fixed reel seats all the way........

Limber is a good word for it but I always called them "spongy", very soft feeling rod. Had a couple of them reels before and they didnt last long at all.

I bought 10 Crappie Hunter 12'ers three years ago with the fixed reel seats for longlining. Have not had a problem yet and they get used ALOT. I have hoisted several +2lbers over the back with no issue. The ones I got are the glass rods and are heavy and not very limber but for $19 each it was a good investment. At the same time I bought 10 Diawa UL spinning reels for $9.95ea to go with these. This was more to have a 'matched set' of rods.

I also own SEVERAL 12' BnM's that are way better at jigging. My favorite is a BnM 12' ultralite that is 5yo now, very sensitive.

Not happy with B&M. Just had a like new B&M fold up on me and not under much strain.

Last I was told if you break front half (TIP) on a Shakespear they do not sell replacements like B-n-M does.
