The worse the weather the bigger and better the bite so bring on the wind(to a certain point 20+)i hate a slick calm day and so do the fish.
Yes, I like some wind, especially this time of year when the sun is coming out for days at a time and a new moon is around the corner. Strong winds are not bad either, as they turn the water over so that it will warm up faster.
I catch alot of crappie in high wind.

I like light winds most of the time.
When it stops the fish stop too.
Hard wind can wear you out with constant boat control but that's
something you just have to deal with.
After a while, after a feeding, they will tire out and look for a place to rest
and digest. You know we all like to chill for a minute.
I have learned a bunch about behavior by watching my aquariam.
Just get ya a cheap wallyworld outfit and some minners.
Learn about the things your after and how they behave.
You will be amazed by what you observe.
Like ole Radar, on MASH, used to say about critters"
"Animals are people too".
:D
Wind on a lake OK, wind on a creek NOT OK
THE BEST TIME TO FISH IS WHEN IT'S RAINING AND WHEN IT'S NOT RAINING
Never called, or heard it called "crappie chop" ... but, my Grandfather sometimes used to say Newlights, when referring to Crappie ... and he always called a little chop on the water - "Newlight Waves".
As for me, the wind usually finds me ... wherever I go, so it don't much matter whether I like it or not, I just have to deal with it ... LOL !! Biggest problem I have with wind, is ... it seems that, no matter which way I want to fish a spot, the wind wants to blow me right on top of it .. LOL !!
I've caught good Crappie in dead calm water, but they were deeper than one would normally expect. And, of course, I've caught them in everything from light breezes to 15mph sustained wind/waves ... it's just a matter of boat control & having sufficient TM power/battery charge !! Windy days wouldn't bother me as much, if I was still a tightline/minnow angler ... but, being a jig slinger (casting/dock shooting), wind makes the job a little tougher. Not much on wind, when the air temps are cool/cold ... but, don't mind it as much when it's warm/hot.

I never liked the wind, fight is hard, but I learned to control the boat in the wind and use it to my advantage. My trolling motor runs .9mph on 1 and that is to fast to spider rig bobbers. So I go against the wind (.4~.5mph), then throw out a 36" Sock and let the wind push me back still to fast most of the time but I still catch fish with the hooks up 50% from where I want them. This all works fishing 10' deep or less, any deeper and I must tightline and I need no sudden movements to do that. Hard wind gusts are just plain hard to deal with.
You need a little chop on the water to break up your image on the water. Calm water and the Crappie can see you more than if there is a little wave or chop on the water. I like a 5-10 mph wind out of the South. That is when I have my best days fishing. No wind and I will fish off a dock or from the bank. EB
DO-GOODER EXTRADINAR :p
a little bit of a breeze helps to clear the pickled egg and beer farts outta the boat. Head into the breeze and the guy in back can't concentrate on fishing, so you win the bets you made on quality and quanity of fish. Remember Buddy is only half the word
A little is good a lot is bad. Seems when it's glass flat they only bite early AM and late PM.
