i prefer 1 pc rods.i don't like looking like a fool when a 2 pc rod im casting with comes apart.if i have to bring only 1 rod its usually one of my ugly stik 4'8" spinning combos.ugly stiks take a beating, don't break easily, and can be stransported in a slightly bent position without breaking if need be.

One piece, unless I absolutly have to have two, ie. rods 10 feet or longer. Better feel with a one piece, no dead spots.

For fun fishing with kids they can't be beat because they are going to take a beating but you're not hurt when you lose one.
Ferruling trick...Offset top and bottom halfs 10 degrees, twist both pieces as you align the guides. This allows the 2 pieces to "seat" deeper into the ferrules. I have never had a rod loosen during use after this procedure. Hope this helps.

I don't see any difference in performance/feel from 1-piece to 2-piecers so that's not an issue fo me. Guess I'm just not that sensitive. I own both and a crappie suckin in the jig on my 2-piece graphite still feels like a bolt of lightning going through my arm so I really don't believe I'm missing any subtle hits.
    My feelings also.

I have very few rods that are just 1 piece. Most are two or more, but I never break 'em down. My spider poles are wrapped with tape at the joints.

I prefer 1 piece under 8' if I plan to use for anything that needs feel.

I also prefer 1 piece rods. I have several 2 piece rods, however I have found that the 1 piece cast further, are typically more sensative, and have better action. When backpacking I prefer more sections, only becuase its easier to pack without damage.

For years you'd get a nicer more sensitive 1 piece rod than a 2 piece but technology has gotten it to the point where it's pretty null IMO. Use what you like. I have them up to 8' 1 piece and it's all I can manage. I would get a 2 piece if I could do it over again.
