Where would one think that some of this site is financed from?

I don't have a problem either way, and am a member of several forums. This is the first one I've seen where users are asked to pay 18.00 per year to not be penalized with Ads. In 99% of cases with websites that generate as much traffic as this one does, sponsors pay this premium to be mentioned/get ad space on the banner or sides of the site, whatever the case. It's certainly a valid question, and in a forum you should be able to ask that.

This site is a vessel for information, and 100% of that information comes from us, the users. The traffic generated is from the users. Without the users this site is little more then another random page. Without the users there would be no sponsors of this site. This is true for all forums on the internet. If there is a wish list, my wish would be for slab to charge something like 5 to 10 dollars a year to be a member, and being a member means that State forums, and maybe all but a little bit of the site is off limits to lurkers. Even then on top of sponsors, you'd get another $130,000 in revenue each year from users.

Again, I spend a lot of time on here, and enjoy it as much as the next guy. I think slab and the moderators do an excellent job.

The adds are not that bad. At least they don't pop up all the time. Just to name a few of the adds. Click on that Bobby Garland add there are 9 info videos there! Click on that B'n' M add there is a "your latest Tips & Techniques Article! Click on that Lindy add Tons ans Tons of fishing info! These are great adds with lots of info. You don't have to buy anything. But read the adds and just see what you are missing out on.

I like the way this site is set-up. It's free and full of great fisherman and people that will help you anyway they can. Ed "slab" Thank you again for keeping this site up and running. Some people don't know how much time you have put into this site, to make it what it is. I would bet it is a little more than a part time job. Good job and thanks for the late night update that take hrs and hrs to work out the bugs. All this for us so the site is not down during the peak day time hrs. Thank you!!!

I moderate another site and I can tell you the people on here are first class. Ads don't bother me in the least bit. I have learned a bunch from the people on this site and made a few friends to boot.

I to am pretty new to this site and have become addicted to it. I have learned so much from all the folks on here its amazing. The adds really haven't bothered me and as another member mentioned if you click on them they have some pretty good info. Advertizing is a part of the world we live in. watched any TV today?

nevermind, 18 dollars a year , my magazines are cheaper then that. this is reason i left NAFC cause it became an ad board first and a forum 2nd. im sure he is making more then enough to cover costs and has enough savvy to move the huge ads from middle of posts so we arent blackmailed to pay money just to be able to read a post or see a full picture, if not i guess this will be another place ill just not come to, i already see it not being as lively as it used to be so im sure im not only one who felt the same way. The main thing that got me a lil mad is causes someone put a post in the memorial section about there dog and had a pic and the ad covered up the animal. I found that inappropriate and kind of ignorant. sure hope he is paying taxes on any profit he is making

It could be said that the people who contribute to this site with information are crappie.com supporters. But I guess that's not the right way to look at it any more. Kind of alienates the users that have been on here for years helping it grow????
