Two so far unspoken rods to consider, and there are many that you should get your hands around before you buy, are the 8' BGJP(bucks graphite jig pole) by BnM and the Shakespeare micro graphite in 7' lite action. I have 2 of the BnM and 3 of the Shakespeare. They're both good poles for different reasons. Both are 2 piece. The BnM are very light in your hand and are on sale at grizzly jig for $20 each, I got 2 to my door for $47. The Shakespeare are at wally every day for under $20 and do a fine job, but they are just a bit heavier in the midsection than the BnM. Diawa Sweepfire reels are $12 at sportsmans warehouse in several sizes, and if you don't mind spending a few bucks, the Phleuger President is a great reel for the money. Lots of choices, good luck in your search.

Beagle isn't a 10' rod just alittle long to cast with let alone two at a time? Remember I've seen you in action before!!!:D

Ugly Stick Lite Pro 7' Med action with ABU Cardinal spinning reel either 101 or 102 all can be had at WM or BPS. I have ben very pleased with the Lite Pro this year for vertical jigging with 4lb test, casting small cranks and spoons and even throwing corks for bluegills. $70 for one outfit.

I have 3 of the Phlueger Trion combos from Academy for $59.00! I have really enjoyed these combos for the price! I believe Bass Pro has them for the same price. I use them for pitching and also dock shooting.

It depends on what you fish for! Fun or for meat! I fish for fun and you can't beat a 5' ultra lite. I use the Berkley Cherrywood ultra lite and wouldn't give it up. I combine it with #4 hi vis line, an ultralight reel and you can't beat it for an over all combo. I generally vertical jig and use 2 rods at one time. When I catch a fish I will drop the other rod and with the longer rods they would end up in the lake. I can cast the sizes that you specified and can dock shoot with it also. When I use slip corks I will go to a 6.6 ft Shakespear Lite rod with a Shimano TX 1000 reel with 6 lb hi vis line on it. Those are the only rods that I carry. EB

Thanks for all the input! I'll look at several of these combos before I buy.
