From the play by play I read about the rodeo ti looks like it was bad conditions for a night stalk. But I wanted to know if you got any pics of the rigs in the rodeo and how they are set up? I know there was a post somewhere where you indicated you might try and get some pics of some of the other "Beast"

    Congrats on the bronze medal.

I don't like to have an open flame in my boat. With the aid of another angler, I built a simple light post out of PVC, ran the wire inside of the pipe and connected it to my deck with a standard white holder. I connect the light with a Cigarette lighter. I plug it into my acc. plug when needed. The light is a 18 watt dual bulb interior marine/RV light. This light operates off my acc/trolling motor battery. I normally fish for about 6 plus hours and have not notice any serious drainage on the battery. I run my fishing lights off another battery and I have one battery for my motor. All this is in my 14 foot 1961 Alumacraft boat.

The new LED Lanterns are the safest, long lasting, brightest lights on the market today. I just haven't figured out why the fishing industry is taking so long to develop and market them. Although I did see that Optronics is making some submersable ones like the floresent tubes and Cabelas is carring them here

Go on www.ebay.com and search for "LED Lantern"

I like this and may add it to my boat, a 6' LED Rope light runs on 12v, perfect to put under the gunnals to light the bottom of the boat...

THis is one of several I found

I went to the Fish-a-rama in Jonesborough Ga this past weekend and one of my purchases was a 17 LEd mini flashlight that runs on 3 AAA. That thing will dang near blind ya it throws such a bright white light.

Here's an idea for you, buy an inexpensive 300 watt converter, wire it into your battery bank, go to Lowes / Home Depot and purchase some cheap clamp on work lamps but buy those new screw in florecant DAY LIGHT bulbs that throw say 60wats of light but only using 26watts. It'll be more light that you can imagine for so little money and you can customise your boat how ever you wish.

    My $.02, YMMV!

I bought one of the LED lantern, it just does not put out the same volume of light as a gas or even a fluorescent light. I was attracted to the LED lantern due to the low battery drain. But I was sorely disappointed with the output that I gave it to my kids for camping. Just not enough light for me for night fishing. I built my 18 watt double light pole for under $40. If you have some of the basic materials already, it will be cheaper. The most expensive part is the light itself. The best part is that the light pole is portable and when in use, it's out of the way. No need to worry about it falling over. I can place it on the side of the boat that I am fishing or behind me in the other up right rod holder.

Sabot, what brand is your LEd lantern and how many LED's are in it? how long ago did you buy it?

Early LED's were some what dim but the new ones are super bright and I don't mean the 1+ watters.
