i also have gave up my fish for those less fortunate . last year in the begining of winter a couple down the street here had lost thier jobs and had 5 kids and were broke and barely had anything and was listening (ie easedroping ) as they were talking in the car next to me and i got to know them a little and turned out they needed a helping hand so i went and invited them to our house and we ate crappie and i sent some home with them and they were gratefull . since then we have been verry good frinds an our families get togeather a lot and have a great time as well good people get down and need help to we are a select breed of people us fisherman that use to be a plentyfull breed and were everywhere in our fathers fathers days where they helped each other on a daily basis in the bountuy we seem to gather and store in our frezers we share with those les fortunate we poses the ability and knowledge to put it up and store it for a rainy day and for that we are a truly blesed breed of people and we should all thank god who has alowed us to dewel in his land and live off his bounty and we should share his bountyfull fortune he has blesed us with with all that are in need weather for there survival or just to lighten thier spirits for an instance in rememberance of the good old days gone by

On another forum, this vet stationed in Afganastan was saying that his wife here in the states was taking their 8 year old fishing weekly. But missed his dad etc.
The tread got quite long to say the least. Shipped the younster a free fishing lite along with a sticker. The boy went out of gourd bragging to his dad
about when he gets home that they can go night fishing. And let his dad know that he stuck the sticker on dad's boat. Got a tear jerking thankyou in the mail

When my old dad got too old to fish by himself and has outlived all his buddys he would some times hang out at Carter Cove (Nimrod) and usually enough people that had just "not enough for a mess" would give him some crappie. His favorite three things in life were, Church, fishing and eating crappie. I'm not sure about which came first. The wife and I usually give some fish away. Hope the favors will be returned when I get "too old to fish"
