I cant say enough as to how much I love my HiTeks.
Even got a bit fancy with them with some plastic coating, paint, and a black garden hose. (I lean my poles across the T-bars when we pack up to move, so the split garden hose was just the ticket in protecting my poles from bounching on the T-bars.)
Stayed with black and red as with the colors on my tracker.
Looks fairly sharp and we get a TON of them "where did you get them" questions.
Love'em....................
Awesome product! HyTek is the ticket!

Glad you like your new rod holders. I dont own any like those but they look like THE TRICK for crappie fishing. And welcome to the boards Carter.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
My favorite part about them is the low profile. I have Scott's on the front and a set of Black Widow Ultra on the back. If I ever had the offer I would trade the Ultras for a set of Hitecks in a heatbeat.

Machuu, glad you like em, but I knew you would.
Never mind the nylon washer. Though it's a good idea, I want the 125 yr old coin. Don't find them often.
Stu- whats the red tab sticking upright on your Hi-tek's? Good modifications. Thought those trees in the background looked familiar. 11yrs in the Orlando area, 22 more in the Deland area. Does the Clermont chain have a good Crappie(speck) population? Never fished it much but the tanic water would hide em good.

I did exactly the same thing (with the washers) to my Hi-teks.
skeetbum, the red tabs are just the plastic coated tips of an "L" bracket I added under the base of the rod holder. The whole L bracket is plastic coated black first.
My brother and myself are long lining crappie chasing fools but living down here in florida you sometimes also catch other less desireable "Greenies" on a regular basis. When they would grab a pole, sometime the pole would pop the holder, but never came out. But still enought to get you thinking about the possibility of losing a rig. In the end we relized all we needed was a little added measure to ensure them suckers werent going anywhere no matter what hit the rod. Now I believe Scott has produced a newer rod holder base that drops the poles a bit deeper into the holder and looks to pretty much elimate the rod popping up and out making these L brackets pretty much pointless now. I believe he has actually designed them with long liners in mind and they looked great. All I believe you have to do is ask for them when you make your pole holder order.
As far as if the Clermont chain has a good crappie population? NOPE nothing but gar and greenies (wink wink nudge nudge)
"tanic water would hide em good" hiding them good enought in a NASTY HOT august month to make you wanna stay in bed till October :D
midnight_f150 Thanks!

Thanx for the answers Stu. I would think that the cypress in all the lakes around there would be an absolute ball in the spring. Maybe I'll drag the boat down and find out on spring. Season will change soon. If you get the urge to travel consider trying the St. Johns south of Astor to Lake Woodruff. I've had a lot of good days there.....Skeet
