    Default Swimbait's Report

I was fishing at Cowan Lake. Cowan is an Ohio lake with a 9.9 hp limit that usually doesn't receive much pressure. But this spring the lake was bombarded with fishermen filling their freezers with crappie fillets. The parking lots were mostly filled every weekday and overflowing on weekends. As for the minnow on the stinger, I was tired of catching so many small 6" crappies. I wanted the bigger profile bait, but it didn't work. The 6 inchers ate stinger/minnow and all like it was their last meal. I have lately been tipping with crappie nibbles that work very well. Anything with lime or chartreuse is hot right now. The swim baits have a nice wiggle to the tail that the crappie couldn’t resist and being able to get them in colors of my choice from Bob was all the better. There something about swimming these baits and feeling the “THUMP” that is addictive. It didn't seem to make much of a difference whether I used the chartreuse or orange jig head, but that sickle hook is amazingly sharp.
