Some of you night stalkers out there. What rod lengths do you use?

I like to use 6 to 7' rods that I use to cast jigs, most times I get fish right in or under the light and its hard to fish a long rod out of 16' boat.

Can u have too much light in the water? The reason I am asking is, Friday night I went and set up with one 2' green and one 3' green light (submermeged) These lights were side by side as I was the only one in the boat. I caught fish but ALL of them were on my 10' rods. Started with 5'- 10' rods but ended up only catching fish on the longer ones. the "edge" of my light was still outside my 10' rods. The reason I am asking is I was wondering if I need to take some of my longer rods or scale back on the light. Although, the lights did attract a lot of bait.

The next time you go out, you may have fish in a totally different area, and wish you had shorter rods. I like to use a float while fishing at night, I can fish all different areas of the light. The only thing I would do different is seperate the lights, I put one on the front and one on the back. Or put one off each side of the boat, I have been out times when one light was holding fish, and the other wasn't.

I wish I could decide. Some nights I am sold on my 12 footers and the next night I am sold on the 6-8 footers. I think the main thing is to have a good sensitive rod.
