Line out the back varies greatly depending on the weight of the baits and the depth of the water and how deep I want them to run. I usually run them at 25 to 50 feet but have done as long as 80 feet. I do make wide sweeping turns whenever possible but I can speed up to 2.0 mph plus if needed to make sharp turns. I use a Minn Kota Rip Tide ST 36v 101 lb thrust with i-Pilot. This combo will do up to 3.2 mph starting at .1 mph in .1 mph increments if I want it to. The i-Pilot is by far the best money I have ever spent for trolling no comparison.

Metered line....takes the guess work out and still lets you use spinning reels witch feeds line out alot better then a bait caster

I know I can always use them as a last resort fix... I was just hoping I could reel them up to the jig while breaking them down. It allows for really easy rod storage with no tangles.
I do not break mine down...I keep them in a rack on the boat secured with a couple of bungie cords. They stay secure running WOT across the lake or down the highway at 75 mph. The rack holds 8 long poles.
