Boat trailor tires..oooooooooooooow..

I run Michelins. Period. Get what u pay for as FB said. However, me new (last year new) Toyota 4x4 came with BF Goodrich shoes. They shure look good after a year, (10K miles). I like the tread style. Looks like a truck tire. ha....Course that ain't got nothing to do with it....Keep 'em aired up and most of 'em will last a long time, maybe..........

I wouldn't just recommend doing it on anything - like a heavy boat -
but I've had good luck with el-cheapo radial car tires on my boat trailer.
They are rated 1179 lbs, more than the 1120 lb rated bias-ply trailer tires
that came on it. They no doubt ride smoother, seem to run cooler, and
was about half the price.

Trailer tires are designed with sidewalls to take the abuse of hauling a trailer. More side to side motion and relatively poor suspension of most boat trailers vs. a car suspension means more flexing back and forth.
I have read stories about some who tried standard car tires and had the sidewalls give out, blow out, while on the road.

If your boat has any weight to it, I would not recommend it.
A blow out at highway speed would be way more costly than the 30 or 40 bucks saved on the tires.

Walmart can order the USA Trail brand. They are reasonably priced as I recall, maybe 50.00 per tire in the 14 inch range. Not including mount.
