Rango, i'm from n/w Pa., 1 hour south of Lake Erie. We perch fish in spring and fall, sometimes all summer. I can, without a doubt, tell you that the top and bottom ones are white perch. I dont care to eat them but a couple buddies who fish with me do. I caught hundreds of them, so i know the diffrence tween them and that white bass in the middle. Nothing beats a 10" yellow perch for taste.

we catch the yellow perch occasionally and i love em. they are delicious, with pretty white meat. im not a big fan of crappie eain but i think i can handle these anytime i can get em. we caught the 4 yellow perch shown at the top of the board in the below photo last spring. we caught all these fish shown trolling and the 4 perch was caught under a bridge. we made a half dozen passes under this bridge and caught a perch on each pass. these 4 are the most i ever caught at one time and are also the biggest ive ever caught in our lake. usually the ones we catch are much smaller than these shown. the white perch are also considered delicous by those down there that eats em. if ive ever eat one i dont know so cant comment on em as far as the taste. the three fish shown at the beginning of this thread was as different as night and day in real life. i dont think youll find a white perch as big as the white bass in the center. If you do, youll probably have a record fish, or close to it. if you got a small white bass the same size of a white perch, then maybe youll start having trouble tellin em apart. In my opinion, these three fish was not even close in apperance, mainly cause of their size difference., and the broken lines above and below the lateral line on the center fish.

we dont have a problem with identifying em....we just want to see what others think........classic white bass/white perch debate in plain view. thought we would help those who cant identify em both in a photo.
