That is a nice one. I have wanted one of those for years to fish little out of the way places. I don't want a tm on one just paddles.

Sweet ride! I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

I used a canoe for many years, I had it rigged up as a one-man fishing machine. Caught a 46" gar one night deep in the heart of Texas. Then I started dating the woman who became my wife. We liked the canoe just fine, but we have a lot more fun in a 16 ft boat.

Speaking of steering, one thing that I rigged up on my canoe was a steering extension. But not on the tiller handle. If you get that thing extended 50", you have to push it pretty far to get any turning going on. I used hose clamps to attach a 5" right angle to the TM shaft. That piece of metal stuck out 90 degrees to the main axis of the boat. THen I got a 5 ft half-inch PVC pipe, ran a bolt through it and attached it to the angle. This way I could steer in the middle of the boat using a push-pull of a few inches instead of having to swing the tiller arm out over the side. But I love rigging up stuff like that--if you've got a system that works for you, that's great!

Skip: The boat is roto-molded using AquaTuf Polyethylene Plastic. The stability comes from the design - I think the beam at the water line is 32" and the beam at the gunwhale is 42" - so that gives kind of a pontoon or outrigger effect. The bottom is flat with some chines for tracking. The boat is also built with a deck and hull, trapping air between making it unsinkable. They show the boat being paddled full of water. My tiller extension has a U-joint at the attachment point allowing me to tuck the extension under my arm controlling the throttle and steering with very little movement at my hand. I am planning my next trip out, so I will let you guys know more about it's performance.

Very nice. I have a marsh rat with an electric motor on it. I cut my motor down abouit a foot so it fits the boat better. If you want to do that its a pretty easy fix. I also added a longer cord so I can run the battery up in the front of the boat. Very nice setup. Congrats.
