    Exclamation bc1 ...

I only have Spirex 2000's ... and neither of them are on my FnF rod. The 2000 weighs in at 10.2oz .... the 1000 at 9.9oz -- so there isn't that much weight difference between them. My Mitchell 308X weighs 1oz less than the 1000 ... and it balances the rod with my finger on the blank, right where it comes out of the handle. And that's with the weight system all there. The Spirex's should bring the balance point back towards the reel a little. That should make it feel a little less "tip end heavy".

    If you have "a couple" of them .... why not get a 1000 & a 2000 - rigging the 1000 with 4lb line, and the 2000 with 6lb line ?

    I have one Rear Drag 2000 & one Front Drag 2000 ...
The FD2000 has 10/2 PowerPro and is on my 6' Browning MH Graphite TN Handle spinning rod - used mostly for Crappie (throwing 1/16oz Roadrunners).
The RD2000 is on a 7' Bionic Blade graphite rod, with 8lb BPS Excel mono - used mostly for topwater Bass fishing, or casting for Hybrid Stripers. (I retired it from Crappie fishing, after using it to win the 2001 Spring Fling Crappie Tournament ... and choosing a 7ft Sam Heaton Sig Series rod, as first place prize :D )

Either one you choose should make for a great outfit. And, since they come with a spare spool, you'll be able to have multiple line tests/types to cover most any situation you face. ........... luck2ya ... cp

Thanks for advice...you are a great resource for those of us who haven't done a lot of speck fishing in a lot of years...but trying to get back in it. It and the equipment has changed a lot since I was younger and doing a lot of speck fishing. Thank you for taking the time to respond. Take care.
