Hey kyron4. go to page 2 of this board. Getting started in minnows. Will probably help ya out..
Which is the better way to keep minnows alive after a fishing trip ; putting them a styrofoam cooler in the fridge or in a cooler in the basement with air pump and air stone in it ? Basement stays around 65* year round. Any comment or input ? -Thanks

I always keep mine in a styrofoam 5 gal. bucket with an air stone pumping air to them! I've kept them good up to a week. In summer I will add some stay alive tabs and ice to the water as well.

i have a 55 gal plastic drum thats aerated and filtered i keep mine in when i return from a trip. keeps em alive forever.
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...
I have a 55 gal. rain water barrel that I put all my left over minnows in and I don't do anything to it just rain water no air or filters and they last for a long time. But with this extreme lack of rain we have been having lately I may have to go with an air pump.
What ever you do - KEEP THEM COOL!!
If they get hot they will die.
If it is a small container - keep the water clean.
Between your two choices I'd put 'em in a styrofoam cooler and leave 'em in the basement. During the spring I usually just sit my styrofoam minnow bucket under the house and they'll last several days, long enough to go back fishing with 'em again the next weekend.
