Might as well do it yourself, thats the same way they do it in the ER, and this way doesn't cost as much!!!!!!

The fishing line trick works EXCEPT!!!!!!!!!!! BIG EXCEPT!!!!!! here on the rotating treble hooks from Excalibur, don't won't nada just doesn't work only tears the hook PAINFULLY from your flesh.

The looped line method is better, faster and less painful. Cutting the barb off isn't a bad idea though if possible. You should of course carry a first aid kit to cover and treat it or seek medical help...
My brother buried a Rebel's treble hook in his lip while trout fishing, went to the emergency rooom in Mtn. Home AR and the Dr. snatched it out with the fishing line method. After a tetanus shot he was sent back to the fishing camp. The Dr. asked if he could keep the lure. When my brother asked why, he took him into his office and showed him a big cork board full of lures-- from trout flies to 2 oz. striper lures that were pulled from anglers!
Or if it beds to the bone and cannot be pushed through, use the fishing line removal trick. I had to do it Sunday!!!

The pictures alone were enough to make me cuss!
That said - valuable post. I've been fortunate (knock on head) to never have embedded a hook in many years of fishing, but have seen two bad ones, one in the back of the head (newbie not looking before casting), and one in the corner of the eye (same reason).
Regardless of which method you choose to use, I agree with other comments here infection should be your primary concern. A deep puncture wound can get very infected and fast if not treated properly. The results of the infection can be far worse than the original wound.
