I've used a regular old cinch or surgeons know since I was a kid and it works great. Just remember to spit on the know before you pull it down or you will burn the line and weaken it.
What is the best knot in your opinion for light line like 4 and 6 lbs.

I use the polymar a lot except with flourocarbon and the improved clinch knot.
This link will take you to a post with a link to a Unit-Knot, but that page has all kind of knots and is animated. Really good site for knots.

I always used the trelene know for light line and the palomar for heavy line. But keep thinking about trying a loop type knot for crappie jigs ti see about more movment.

I prefer the palomar knot.
After many years of tieing all kinds of knots, I settled on the uni-knot with the polymar coming in a close second. The uni-knot will work with all size lines and stiffness and can be tied in the dark after a little practice.
I have much better luck with palomar than a cinch knot. Maybe I just can't tie a cinch knot very well. I find the palomar quicker and easier anyway.

Reverse clinch. Quick & strong.

I've always used the Trilene knot for light line. Never had a problem with it.
