When I first got my Rocket I was fishing out of a 14' fiberglass jon boat with a 15 hp motor. I could only fill the basket about 1/3 full cause that is about all that small fishing outfit would pull and clean. I'd say filling the basket half full isnt a problem getting the fish clean. The more fish you put in it the farther you pull it. All that's left when they are clean is taking the fish home and rinsing off the lake water!

    Exclamation Hey FIN ......

    http://hsionline.com/products/ecbuilder2/item8523.htm
They seem to have the best advertised price.

This item was brought up and discussed back in 2002 ... the "stated" price, back then, was $85
    Cabela's current price is $89.99
And I saw where one was sold on Ebay, at the "buy it now" price of $34.99 (back in Oct). ............ cp

Mine stays put away in a boat shed all the time and looks practically new but I'd buy another for a spare in case I ever lost mine for $35.

I think the main thing to remember is it just scales the fish and from there u have to gut them if you want to keep them whole. If you filet fish then owning one of these isn't needed.

I've always cut the heads off and split the bellies as I drop them into the basket. When they come out they are pan ready unless you want to fillet one or both sides of some of the larger ones. Even at that, there's alot less mess to have in your kitchen and there's no more cleaning fish in the back yard. The only negative I have about using the basket is there are no tails left on the fish to munch after they are fried up but I can live with that.

The Grizzly Jig Shop in Caruthersville, MO. carries these. I can't locate my catalog at the present, but think it was in the $50.00 range. Mike

You have to be able to go fast enough to keep it up on the surface...

No way one is $50, the MSRP is $89 I think. I got one from the manufac to do a review on for a magainze article and the letter siad the MSRP was $89...But mine was free.

Under those conditions, I don't think so Bait Runner. This is an excerpt from the ad description :

"The Rock-IT Automatic Fish Scaler completely deslimes and descales up to 50 pansize fish in minutes. The Rock-it Fish Scaler is manufactured with galvanized and stainless steel. To use the Rock-it Fish Scaler, get your boat up 14 to 17 mph and slowly feed the Rock-it Fish Scaler out behind the boat until it rides on the crest of the boat's wake. The Rock-it Fish Scaler should be pulled behind your boat for about 100 to 200 hundred yards. The angled fins on the Rock-it Fish Scaler allow it to rotate as the water flows through and automatically deslimes and descales your fish. The Rock-it Fish Scaler also doubles as a livewell."
