adding foam to your boat will make it sit a little lower not higher. Adding material = added weight regardless if its foam or metal. And as far as noise......I know people who bang an oar on the bottom of the boat to attract crappie.

    Default noise

I fish a place that has noise-lots of it-on a regular basis. When I had a metal boat, if you clunked the side or bottom of the boat real hard it was out of the morm and the bite would noticably decrease. After a while it would return most times. But not always. Anything put in direct contact with the hull, like carpet or foam, will deaden the vibration caused by the impact and quiet the boat some. Spray floatation, as done from a manufacturer, would work best but the surface it's applied to must be clean for adhesion. It also changes draining capabilities. Let us all know how it works out.

I've never seen it bother fish. There are a lot of docks that have boats tied up in them, and the water slapping the hulls doesn't affect the fishing in any way.

    Default Boat Noise

I think it bothers us more than the fish.

Cpl weeks back, me and a buddie was out crappie fishing.
We was having decent luck until he turned on some boom boom bass music (which I HATE!) with in minutes we was tossing fish over our sholders like madmen!

The music actually increased the bite by 1000%!

    Strange but true.
Altho this happens to be a major party lake.

I bought a rubber stall mat that Tractor Supply sells cheap and
    cut it and formed to
the floor of by boat and it added weight, deadened all sound in the floor and
also allows for long days of standing and shooting docks without all the feet and leg aches at the end of the day.

i think alot of the noise stuff has to do with what the fish are used to. the fish i catch off the dock are used to the beating and banging. fish in open water i have noticed noise affecting but not enough to really bother with.jmho.

+ 1 on the stall mat. I cut one up and put the pieces petween the ribs of my boat then I put the floor back on. It helped with the noise and added weight in the front.
