When my dad worked on Paris Island in South Carolina, we were somewhere close to there when we passed a body of water that had fish that looked like they were sailing. They were jumping alot higher out of the water and flying alot further in the air than these fish in the video. It blew my mind, I was amazed. From a distance they looked to be a small skinny silvery colored fish. Kind of like a skip jack. It was neat to watch them.

Hey Crappieseeker that was Mullet you seen. When I lived on the Coast of Mississippi we used to run the bayous at night to fish for Reds and Flounder under dock lights and one night while riding to the mouth of the Bayou My Brother was driving the boat and I was on the front with the light shinning it at the banks to keep us in the middle and Bam one of them Mullet hit me right in the Chest scared the ---- out of me lol. You gotta be careful running wide open at night with the light on they will jump at the light for some reason.

Yeah Drift Wood it was cool. This was in the daytime and there were hundreds of them just jumping everywhere. looked like you could just ride around and catch all you wanted by them landing in the boat, are they good to eat?

I like them along with alot of other ppl in the area We call them Biloxi Bacon lol. Some ppl catch them with dough balls but we used Cast Nets and throw out of a boat to catch them. Smoked Mullet good ole Biloxi Bacon. I tried them fryed and I like them smoked better. They also have a season that all they harvest from them are the row or eggs thats when you can buy them cheap cheap. They are also used for bait, for the Crab fisherman. The fingerlings are the best Flounder and Red fish bait I know of so we would catch them for that reason also. If you ever around anywhere that has smoked Mullet try it you'll like it. Terry

    Default Asian Carp

Don't know what those fish were in the vidio, but up here in Mo. we have been invaded by asian carp. Let me tell ya those buggers get big and will jump clean over your boat. Theres been several people hurt by these sludge suckers. I've see vidios of guys running up sloughs with their motor trimmed way up, and banging on the boat. They were dodging 10 to 15 pounders. Can you imagine toolin up the river 30 mph or so and something that big smacking ya in the puss, it would take your head off.

izzysfishin funny you should mention that cause I just saw a video of that exact same thing on tv just now and the guy is up for the $100k funniest home video thang for one of them asian carp smackin him in the face. That would hurt.

I live in the Raleigh NC area and there is a place on the Neuse river just below Falls lake here called Milburnie Dam where I have fished the shad run in the spring. Got there one morning and was the only person there at first light and looked out over the water and there were fish jumping everywhere! I thought to myself that I was gonna have some fun so I hurried down to the water for the catchin to begin. I quickly found out where the saying "Jumping Fish Dont Bite" came from. I couldnt buy a bite with the fish jumping all over the place. HEHE Go figure!

You have to be carefull on the Muddy Ms river theres some of the carp that will jump and hit the boat or you. Now I don't won't to find out what a flying carp that weights 25 lbs feels like when it hit me..
