Default what about the crappie magnet?

The design of the head I believe works really good in all situations.

I tried trout magnets a few years ago to fish small stocked rivers and streams up here in Connecticut. I really didn't expect them to work well but the videos they post tempted me to give it a shot. For the past two years I have been cleaning up with them and no longer bother with live bait. All I carry now for trout is a small pack with the hooks and heads in various colors. I AM A FIRM BELIEVER in these products! At the lake where I keep my boat we jig from the docks and we do extremely well with crappie magnets on a 1/32 or 1/16 jig head. The crappie magnets are larger than the trout magnets and I keep both available to adjust size if need be. The smaller trout magnets also do great and have been a constant producer for me. Besides trout we have caught crappie, blue gill, pumpkinseed, yellow and white perch, smallmouth and largemouth on Leland's magnets. Suspended under a bobber, jigging or on a jerky retrieve....they just work.

One thing I think is enticing to fish is the perfectly horizontal presentation they can provide, imitating a stationary baitfish. Holding them still and just jiggling the rod tip make the tail quiver, similar to a BGBS but the body profile is slimmer. It looks like a minnow just waiting to be devoured. They do have a unique hook on their jig heads which is sort of a mix between a 2 and 4. Rigging the magnet properly is key to get the best action. I find it is important to have the hook pass directly between the split tail and exit as far back dead center in the main body as possible. If its off a little they twist and just don't look the same in the water. Personally I wish their hooks were a little stronger. I have had several break at the bend. Guys who fish a lot of submerged timber or those who favor a #2 hook or larger may not like the magnet jig heads, but they still work fine for me, and like I said, they have handled some larger bass as well without issues. I use 4 lb flouro with a palomar knot on ultralight setups. Overall I really like the trout and crappie magnets. They work well for me and the color selection is great. I just ordered some slab bandits and a couple of crawl'rs so this year I will be armed with quite the selection of trout/crappie magnets, BGBG and now a bunch of slab bandits. Bottom line is they will all probably work fine!

If you throw 20 bucks in for an assortment of some crappie magnets I am sure you will like them. Trout magnets clean up with panfish so keep the kids in mind too! My daughters pick their own colors out of the tackle box now and compete to see who picked the best color.

    Shane,
I know I am a newbie here and haven't posted much, but Leland's magnets have worked so well for me I felt I needed to share that info. The name sort of makes it seem like a gimmick but they flat out catch fish. I just ordered and restocked last week for the spring and can't wait to try the Killer Klatt color this spring!

BTW, I would love to see the trout magnet version get the Killer Klatt and Salt & Pepper colors added to the line up. I'm thinking those colors in the smaller size on a 1/64 jig would be a great plastic for ice fishing up here.
