Good Bass fishermen make great Crappie fishermen once you give up the Bass part of the equation...Just kidding. As a Bass fishermen you should have the basics down. Crappie can be attackers just like Bass, except usually not on surface. Sometime you have to put the jig right in front of his face. For me, the best method for ANY FISHING, any species is I become the fish. I try and see in my mind what the fish is seeing my jig do. Sometimes you have to make them bite. You twitch and twitch, BARELY moving the rod tip (will move it more if fishing in open water, but if you're fishing IN structure I barely twich it and not that often). If in open water and I know the fish are there (having caught them in the same locations year after year) I will swim it to him, tease him with it, shimmy and shake it, rock and roll it, etc...If the fish is there I will get him...even if I have to wait them out. Fun thing then is once they bite you can usually fill up a coooler on my lake. I love geting a double when I have TWO jigs on the line, making sure the top jig is HALF the weight of the bottom jig. Both tied on "loop styly knots". This is my most favorite rig, just 2 jig heads about 18" apart. Somedays they just GOBBLE um up!!!!
