Make plans for you and your dad to go to your local outdoor/fishing/sportsmen show. Both Milwaukee and Chicago draw in numerous shows every year. Typically they are held in Jan-March. There will be people from resorts at the shows with the intention of promoting thier location. The shows are a great place to meet and great your host, and get more information about where you want to go.

Lake Link usually is usually a pretty good source of the major shows coming up. They also have a great webcast, unless your lucky enough to live within radio tower range.

Check out the guides on C.C and some of their catches.
It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

Now is the time for fall crappie on Lake Weiss in Ala.
If your after crappie just goggle search -best crappie lakes or crappie capital of the world. Seems Weiss will pop up.
If you decide to hit Weiss.
Use Terry Whaley as your guide. You won't go wrong.
    Tell him I sent ya.

We would definitely look up Terry for a guide.

How about camping on Lake Weiss? Any suggestions for a family friendly place. I want to take my teenage son. Prefer not to stay with permanent residents but okay if campground is decent.

    Thanks.

Guntersville Lake if you want numbers and trophy potential.
