I just want to throw in one suggestion. If I had to have one bait in my box it would be a jig. If I fished from shore and had no electronics and was 100% low tech, I would have a jig. One I could cast to get to them while hanging back, not spooking them. How big, what color, what style? That is for you to tell. I think it's a confidence thing. We have all been outfished at least once by someone with almost no tackle, but he knew what to do with it. Might sound a bit vague, but start somewhere and cover ground. Asking questions along the way you'll find yourself cleaning a nice bucket of fish before long. Tight lines.

Good points and facts Crappiepappy. One I would like to emphasize is Structure. Your point made about Security-Food-Comfort is found in structure. Water depth at different times of year may vary but there seems to be structure close by. Thank God for the depthfinder. We old timers with the cane poles use to have to think Like A Fish.LOL. I rely on my electronics and once I find Structure holding fish then I can try different ways of trying to get the bite. Sometimes They Aint Hungry. I save money on dog food in the Summer as my dog dont eat as much in July-August [Dog Days] as I was told. As a Matter-Of-Fact I dont believe I eat as much during these months. But everything has to eat sometime being there with right bait at right time is the key. Fishing-Satifaction of out-thinkig the Fish.LOL Bottombumper
