Guy has some nice looking rods
Fatman
Just bought a new rod for pushing. I have a lot of rods, but none of them had a rating that would do what I needed for pushing. This is a trolling rod and I do lots of that anyway, but it's rated up to 2 oz. and is 10' 6" long. So I plan on using it for trolling, pushing and fishing brush piles as well. Now I am really happy with this rod and can't wait to give it a try. I got it from Cherokee Rod Company and just wanted to let people know about this guy as he is really nice and easy to deal with. I will tell you this rod looks awesome!
Heck I already have WM's Rods, BnM & Pro Angler and none of them were rated to handle the 2 oz. weight I plan on using. I also think it will work just fine trolling as it is a trolling rod.
Also this guy is a member and sponsor here at crappie.com and the name of his company is Cherokee Rod Company and I feel sure you can find him on the Oklahoma board.

I am pushing a 5 oz weight Ky rig. This weight bends my 6 foot medium heavy poles like a drawn bow. Reckon I need a catfish pole?
I use trig to calculate my depth ( if anyone is interested). With this weight, line size is insignificant.
It works, but I can't tell when I got a fish cause of the bounce of the poles. I drug fish a long ways.:o
Just wonder if anyone uses this type rig?
I don't need any more poles that don't do the job.

CP, what pushing I'm doing, using BnM slo-trollers with the tip pruned back
and new, bigger tip guide put on with archery ferrule cement.
Started out 16.5' long, now they somethin like 15.5'
work real good with 6 ounce, fair with 10 - but you better eat yore
wheaties before you start messing with them.
And not stick 'em in just any rod holder either. 1/2" stem driftmasters
are holding so far - if they don't break a chunk out of my boat :D
But they do bend a good bit, esp. with the 10's. Just part of it I reckon.

CP did you happen to see that video I gave a link to for the CAT meeting a couple months back? Jay Don was doing the talk on rods, line, jigs and rigs and when he got to pushing he said some use 2 oz. and other use a 4, 6 or even a 8 oz weight. I don't know what to make of that much weight, but none of the poles I had were even close to 1 oz rated so I needed a heavier rated rod. I was told you can probably go double the weight of the rating so this rod I just got should work up to at least 4 oz.

Jay Don is the guy that has finnytribe.com and is a member of CAT and I think he did part 3, 4, 5 & 6 on this meeting and covered everything from line to jigs to poles and storing different kinds of rigging to keep it from tangling. So on the right side of the page you can choose what ever you want to watch. I am pretty sure this part 6 is the right one for the pushing and rigging storing.
