    Default Lake Okhissa, Miss.

Earlier this year a few people mentioned Lake Okhissa near Bude, and some plans to fish it. The word was that is was built as a trophy bass lake but also had some very large brim of different kind. Different people tell different stories about the sac-au-lait that are there or not there, so who knows. I had a truck driver in my place today who lives in that area and says an uncle of his works there for the Dept of ? that runs the area and said that there are a lot of "white perch" caught there. Do we have anyone here with an eye witness report or even a rumor. I wanted to make a trip this fall but the hurricanes and the wife's knee replacement changed my mine for me. Now I'm looking towards this spring. Any news would be considered good news.

I grew up near that area, but the lake was built since I moved away. It's only four or five years old. I understand it was stocked with some pretty good size fish of all kinds and the word of mouth from my ole buddies in the area is that they are catching some nice fish there.---Pooch

Sorry Gene, I don't know that area at all but if it is only 4 or 5 years old then it should have some excellent fishing!:D

    Hey PawPaw Gene!
No first-hand info, but I got the word - something less than a year ago - from some of those radical Baton Rouge fly fishing folks that the lake has some humongous bream in it. You have to fish deep for them, though - 8 to 12 feet. Nobody said anything about sac-a-lait.
It is a fairly deep lake set in some hills, so it just has to have lots of submerged humps and points. Like I said, that's second-hand, but the data seems reliable. Me I doubt I'll ever go see - too much stuff around home to occupy my time.
Give my best to the wife.

Thanks for the replies guys. The wife and I took a ride up there last year just to check it out, didn't take the boat. It sure is a pretty lake in a beautiful setting. If things go well I'll try to give it a go next spring. If for nothing else, for a change of scenery.

Dwayne, I don't know if you saw the PM I sent you but the jelly is great.

Pete, I saw you made a post about Lake Martin. Hope you're not planning on becoming gator bait. Thanks for the well wishes for the wife. I hope to have her in the boat in a couple of weeks.
