I spent three days at Chicot a couple years ago but did not fish. I thought it looked like a good lake for fishing and Plan to go back there soon. What can you tell me about the crappie fishing there
I went yesterday and caught about 60 bream. I kept 43 big ones. I fished the middle of the lake on the south end and used up 75 crickets and started pulling the catapillars off the tupelo gum trees and using them. The catapillars worked better than the crickets. I fished from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

As Basinfisher Said, It Is North Of Ville Platte By 6-7 Miles. It Is A State Park With Campgroundes And Cabins. It Has Fishing Docks, Nature Trails And Etc. There Is Excellent Bass (up To 14 Pounds Plus) Bream , Crappie And Other Species Of Fish. Hope This Helps. .....benthook....usaf Retired..54-75

ville platte is about 40 miles north of lafayette once you get off at i-10 and head north on i-49.
It's not good right now after the spawn but when they get turned on again, I will post something.Originally Posted by jigdancer
