    Default Grand Bayou catch.....

Tommy and I finally got together for a trip to the lake. Got to the ramp at 4:00am this morning, misting rain and a stiff breeze. Tommy had lights on board and were soon deployed. We caught 6 or 7 keepers before daylight, and picked up the remainder of the 16 total that we kept by 10:30,all caught on Rosys. Had to keep several small ones that were hooked deep in the throat, but all in all, a productive day.

The State Park is a beautiful, well maintained facility. The photo below is one of several cabins that can be rented at a reasonable rate. They can sleep 10 each and are right on the water.

Where is this lake at? I don't have any problem driving to North LA for the Tournament if we can find a place with cabins for rent. I know the families will want to come along and it would be nice to have a place where there is something for them to dowhile we fish. We can have on in the north and at the end of the summer, have one in the south. Call it the LA crappie.com circuit.

that someone would jump on that idea, and it's a good one, but let me exhaust all the leads on Saline/Larto. We have a new member from Pineville which is almost in Alex. and I'm hoping for a reply from him about lodging close to the lakes. I think Saline/Larto would be the best lake, but if we cannot find a place within a convenient distance, it's a no go.

Take a look at your map about 60 miles s/e of Shreveport.....you will see Coushatta, and Grand Bayou is almost within it's city limits, also s/e of town. It's a nice place, and a good lake, even if somewhat small. It's a fairly new lake, I think around ten years old, and it's producing big bass and crappie in good numbers. Check your map for a recent date. The lodging is within walking distance of the ramp...in fact the photo above of the cabin was taken from the cleaning station, which is right at the edge of the ramp. The mileage is approx. 80 miles from Alexandria on 49 N. We can run this by the members if we can't find something central to N and S LA. Another lake to investigate would be Toledo Bend....the center of the state is about 20 miles N. of Leesville, and even there it doesn't look very populated. If you have any thoughts, drop me a post. Good idea on the "crappie.com circuit!" :D
