    Default They biting around shreveport?

    Hello old friends! I used to be on here all the time when I lived in north Louisiana. Then I moved south and started charter fishing coastal species. Then I fell in love with a german girl and now I straddle the Atlantic and barely get to wet a line. Heh but that’s another story….

    I get one week in Shreveport,la coming up here the 7th-14th of January. I want to go perch fishing with my Pop. We are gunna do one trip every three months or so. So I can’t stay on them like I used to.

    I have my sights on about three lakes;

    1. Grand Bayou res.
    2. Bistineau
    3. Caddo

    (LOTP, the bayou below clear lake below black lake, darbone, Claiborne are also on the high point list)

    Those are my go to spots. Any of them biting right now? I would say lake of the pines but I’m trying to keep it in Louisiana. We also got live scope and want to play with that. And I find at LOTP this time of year it’s just flat too easy to drift with an sock and drag bottom rigs so I don’t want to do that as much as find and work brush.

    I’ll put up a post with pictures and full detail after the trip like I used to do every week on here. Shout out to all my old crappie friends I hope y’all are doing good!!! Hey Shadow/Dwyane! Sorry I been out of touch man I’m all over the place these days.

    Good luck but going with your pops will mean a lot more than fishing or catching.

    Hi Markham!
    Glad to have you back in the state!! I haven’t been fishing around Shreveport in a while. Around Ferriday, they have been kind of slow. Most fish on the bottom in 9-12 fow. I have been using hair jigs with gold or silver nibble. Good luck!! Tell your dad I said hi.

    They are biting at LOTP. There are still fish on the flooded timber in front of Watts Island. Live scoping the timber there is fun. Launch at Johnson Creek COE launch and bear to the right a little when you hit the main lake and you should see boats on the far side. Generally 30-35 FOW.

    Good Luck!

    I don't fish for crappie very often or even bass lately for that matter. But I have been to Grand Bayou a couple of times recently and done OK. Brought home a dozen nice ones about 6 weeks ago. A couple of weeks ago I had 18 with several 1 1/2 lb. and up. Used shiners down toward the dam. Water depth was 16 to 19' and fish were 10 to 14' deep. I'm not good with Livescope but many times when I got within 20' to 25' of a group of crappie, they would scatter.

    I've heard that they are biting on the edge of the Sabine River above Circle Drive on Toledo Bend but I haven't tried there in several years.

    Also thanks guys for the heads up on Grand Bayou and LOTP. I will most likely hit one of them or both while I am here. If so I’ll put up some posts.
