Good job and report. Congrats on the successful day. Thanks for sharing
A big flight of cormorants hit Concordia last Friday. Saturday morning they were rounding up the shad behind my house. I figured if the shad were on the move, the crappie should be also. I hit the lake Saturday and tried the few places that I thought I could catch a fish. Nada! Tried one last place just before dark and the fish were there, but weren’t very interested in biting. Caught 5, two of them were small. Made supper. Had to get oil change in truck this morning, but fortunately I was the first one there. Got out in less than 30 minutes! Decided to try the crappie again. They were still in the same area, and in a little better mood. Caught a few on silver hand-tie (my crude copy of BTT Ghost). Tried maybe 6 different colors with only limited success.
Then I thought of a friend who almost always fishes black and chartreuse. I usually don’t do well with it. But, I had tried everything else. Put on black and chartreuse hand tie, and bingo!! The color du jour!!
Had a good time catching crappie, yellow bass, and massive gou!!
Best day ever on Concordia, and the best day in a while anywhere!!
Put in at Sportsman’s Landing and Campground. Good landing, good fish cleaning area, and good folks!!
