    Default Bent prop shaft

Well the low water on Horseshoe Lake in Monterey La. claimed another lower unit. At blast of our Top 10 tournament last Saturday I hit a stump ten feet into the ride. Motor kicked out of the water. I shut it down. It cranked just like it always does but when I got on plane I noticed the vibration. So I never fished out of sight of the landing. Has anyone of y'all successfully straightened a bent prop shaft?? Looking for advice please!!

There are videos of being done on youtube but best bet will be lower unit replacement…..unless the prop shaft can be replaced as in by itself.

Bud I don't know what type of engine you are running but Ryan at Performance Outboards in Houma La has straightened them perfectly for me. Have him do your seals at least while in the Drive so you get years of use when you get the Lower Unit back. Now I need to say He is always very busy so please understand the Oil Companies keep him busy but Ryan is one of the Best.

I have bent mine a couple of times and had it straightened by my boat mechanic ($99) and then the last time I just had him replace the whole thing.

Tried fishing in my backyard this afternoon. A lot of nothing, then found some willing fish. Caught 5 on silver jig,(like BTT Ghost). Made a nice supper!

Default Bent propeller shaft was a machinist for 45 years and straightened many shafts.

A shaft on a 150 up engine is very stout and can be fixed but I would use heat in a lathe this will affect the tensile strength. Maybe check the cost of a machine shop repair to the cost of a new prop. Not good with computer!!!
