Good report. Thanks for sharing.
In search of something other than catfish, and buoyed by the fact that my motor started with regularity, I decided to go to Uncle Bud’s on Larto Lake.
Stopped at Why Not Stop for water and ice and grilled kabob. Called Uncle Bud’s to make sure the water level was high enough to launch.
They are and have been working on the road at Larto. The new road is the best way to get to Bud’s now. Just keep going straight at the intersection south of the Honey Brake sign. Formerly you would turn right and follow the lake (forever). Now, new smooth road. When you get to the next four way stop, go straight witch takes you up from the dam towards Bud’s. Much faster and not nearly as bumpy. Arriving at Bud’s he was working on the landing. He helped me launch and suggested a place to fish. Right in the middle of the lake! I tried it for a while and didn’t get a bite. Tried around Youngblood’s with no luck. Then went back past Bud’s where I had caught some crappie, and caught one. Decided to go back and try the area Bud told me about one more time. Cruising around with Livescope, I saw a bump on the bottom. I held a jig a few inches above it, and a fish raised up and hit the jig. Caught a couple more and called it a day.
I did get a good look at the stumps and laydowns around Youngbloods. That should come in handy this winter.
Another lovely day in paradise!!
