Where do you like to fish the most and how far is it from you. There’s nothing close to me, so I’m exploring. Gonna make a trip to Toledo after Easter. Gonna try lake St. John soon. And Turkey Creek later on.

What part of the state do you live in? There are lots of great places to fish in Louisiana. Bayou Louis just west of Sicily Island has plenty of crappie. I can’t find them right now. There is a mercury warning on consumption of some kinds of fish from Louis. I don’t think it includes crappie, but I try to limit how many I eat from there.
I haven’t fished Turkey Creek. Someone had a report or two last year on here, so you might search Turkey Creek Louisiana. Larto and Saline are really good. I hear good things about Bayou Macon Cutoff. Lake St John is big and is tough in the wind, but has some good sized crappie. Any of the several “Old Rivers” are good when the Mississippi River goes down. Lake St Joseph at Newellton is shallow and full of lilly pads, but has some crappie. The boat ramp ain’t the greatest.

Any way. Let me know where you are coming from, and I bet we can come up with a good answer.

I did the search, and there are good reports. Closer to me than I thought. I will give it a try sometime. Do the search. Lots of info. There is also Bruin. It is big and has lots of ski boats I think. I haven’t fished it either.
If you go to turkey creek give us a report please

Larto is probably the most dependable. St John is supposed to have big crappie. I have a hard time catching them. When I first fished it, i was spider rigging with 4 poles and two shiners to a pole. I could catch a few that way. Louis has been good to me. If you put in at the rocks west of Sicily Island, it is protected from the wind. Go slow until you learn your way around it. There are some big stumps just under the water in a lot of places. Bill’s landing is south of Sicily Island off 425. There is a sign on the left. My friend said there are some really big crappie in Turkey Creek.
If you go to Larto, we have get togethers at Bud’s Landing and Cabins. They are very nice and will give you a fishing report and help you launch your boat. There shiners stay alive better than any others that I have seen.
Oh, one more place. Bayou Cocodrie. At Monterey. If I remember correctly the three bodies of water make a 63 mile long system. Trailer park and store just north of Monterey. Several other landings. Stumps and shallow water in places that you wouldn’t expect. Don’t ask me how I know!
