    Default It's been so long!

Well I finally got away from taking care of Linda for half a day to go fishing. After almost 4 months we are finally starting to see some progress in her therapy. It's been a long haul for her and for me.

Any who, Tuesday my son and I made a trip. We first went to a place where you can have all kinds of fun fishing for small bass in shallow water. Most of them we catch are about a pound or two, not big but much fun. The place is loaded with grass patches where the fish hide. By throwing any kind of bait, my favorite is a Rapala, in between the grass patches entices the fish to come out from under the grass and slam the bait. Beetle spins works great also as do swimming a minnow jig. Butttttttt...... Tuesday the water had come up and was real muddy thus no catch no fish.

We head to a second spot that I had heard about but never been. Upon arriving we notice some boats along the banks. We went past them and started fishing towards them hoping to have some conversation with them. Well 5 minutes into the game and I hooked a beaut, a least 1 1/2 pounds. As I tried to life him into the boat my rod snapped and into the water he went. By the time I recovered and pulled in the line, it was gone. Tuff! Another 5 minutes or so and I get another big hit. As soon as I got him loaded on the pole I knew it wasn't a slab. I fought it for a couple of minutes and brought a 3 pound cat.

By then one of the other boats left and headed out, and then another. I guess no one wanted to talk to us. We hadn't caught anything else and was thinking of leaving ourselves but before we left I wanted to see what had attracted those fishermen to that location. On getting there we found a drain coming out the marsh pushing clear dark water. We started catching right away. Most were small but plenty big enough to fry whole on the bone which is the way I like them. We did catch three nice ones about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 pounds. and a hand full of the smaller ones. More than enough for supper. I also caught 5 small bass while casting a Rapala into the clear water. The sacs were in the mixing water.

It's been so long, and I was so tired. The sun did a number on me. It sure wasn't like that when I was younger just a few years ago before Linda met with an unfortunate accident that put our fishing, not on the back burner, but off the stove. I bought a new motor right before she had her accident 2 years ago and as of this trip I have only 37 hours on the motor. It's barely broke in. Before her accident we were putting 20 to 25 hours a week on my older motor. In fact it's been so long and I was so tired that I forgot to take pictures, none. Well at least the motor ran like a new motor, that was so nice. Those 4 strokes start so easy and run so smooth and quite. I did have one problem and that was the foot switch on the troll motor quit, but I figured a way around that by turning the speed control to off and turning the other switch to constant on. That way I could use the troll motor by using the speed knob to turn it on and off. It was a little bit of a hassle but we got it done. Hopefully I can do it again soon after this next cold front and my new switch we be in.

Glad you got some on water therapy. Surely does wonders for the mind and spirit. Those 4 stroke motors are certainly the berries. Quiet and easy to deal with.

So glad you are on the water. I know what your going threw. My husband and I have been in the hospital for 2 1/2 months. He getting out tomorrow thank god. He will be going threw some rehab when we get home but the worst is over. It’s been hard for me to get much fishing in this last year and a half. I’m sure I’ll be back now that’s he on the mend. That’s my therapy for sure. I’m glad you got you some.
