I use braid or Nanofil on all my rods tied to a large swivel, then 6 or 8lb fluoro to the jig. Works great and I like seeing the double signal on the scope.
Is there any mono or flora carbon that is as sensitive as braid? I've had braid on all my crappie poles the last 3 years. Hook-ups have increased but the number of bites I think have decreased. Are they seeing the braid better than they do mono?? Also braid looks like a rope tied to my jig on the livescope screen. I'm only using #15 test braid

My green braided line turns white after a while. So... I've added a fluorocarbon leader and it does seem to help.
At least with mono, if you get your line in your trolling motor, you stand a chance. With braid it’s a broken rod. The Mr Crappie 6 or 8# works good for me. With the 8#, I can grab the drop shot and the line above, and usually shake off a gar. Haven’t tried flouro. Probably will when I give up on shiners and start jigging.
I started using braid during the spawn on Horseshoe Lake in Monterey, LA.
Line size didn't seem to matter when they are up in the reeds and grass. Got tired of retying mono after getting hung up in the roots. I've told my wife that I need a few more Zebco mini 33s so I can have braid when I need it and mono or flora carbon when I need it. Sounds like a good way to get more toys
