Sorry for double gator. Tried to redo and it didn’t work!
Fished Old River Vidalia yesterday. If I got $5 for every gar I hooked, I could buy a new trolling motor. Caught several cat fish including an Op about 7 pounds. Had a 3 foot long Asian carp jump in the boat, but it missed me! Didn’t catch a single crappie!! Livescope was busy with all manner of creatures.
Other wildlife included 3 alligators, Black Bellied Whistling Ducks, many herons and cranes, some that I don’t know the names of. And buffalo gnats!!
Other than that, big motor ran great and trolling motor still 24 volt wide open or nothing. Did find some green willow trees, but that didn’t work either. Next stop, Louie or St John.

Sounds like an eventful day none the less.

Cranky looking gator
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Definitely wouldn’t enjoy the kamikaze carp. Great picture of the gator.

It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings.

Yep livescope screen over there stays really full. I've fished this river since I was a kid and I've never seen the amount of gar that this river has. Yet I still see a few crappie and hundreds of yearling largemouth. I got to late reports yesterday that people caught a good many crappie at Deer park last week. They kept it a secret until they stopped biting. Nice pic. You ought to be over there about dark with a good light and see all the red eyes.
