    Happy Jack
Fished out of Happy Jack. Went to Bay Sansbois. Water was a little murky. Did a lot of riding in search of clearer water.

    1 14' spec w/catch5 bone color
1 20' red w/ live minnow carolina rigged.

I will try again tomorrow. This is a new area for me any tips are welcome.

    Bay Sansbois
Fished Bay Sansbois again today with better results.

    14 Specs

    1 Flounder

    all caught with live minnows.

The fog was terrible this morning so I got a late start and almost canceled. It turned out to be a beautiful day on the water.

    Default Cochaoes

labill a cochaoe is a small 4-6 inch brackish minnow, some people call them mud minnows. If you can get them live they are excellent redfish bait some people even freeze them and then use them. You can get the artifical ones at most Wal Marts in the south. As for the tides I have found that the best time to fish is on the down side of the outgoing (high) tide but being the high tide for that day is around 7 pm I would try to fish around the incoming (low) tide around 6 am. As for the cochaoe the website rodnreel.com has a great fish identification search it will be at the top in the bar to the far right hand side. By the way do you know any hot spots for crappie right now? Good Luck

That's some much needed info on the tides....I'm sure our guide will be well versed in that area, but it's good to learn what you can since the tides are so critical to the fishing. I will take a look at the cochaoe minnow, thanks again.

I got an email from a friend this morning that lives on Toledo Bend, he caught 25 nice crappie this am in 10 ft of water off his dock. He only fished for an hour, caught both males and females....and the females were full of eggs, and when he cleaned them, the eggs had red veins in them. The spawn is soon on Toledo, and is probably started already on the northern banks with brush on them. If the weather stays warm it will get good fast.

The weather channel is forecasting rain and thunderstorms starting Friday night thru the weekend up here. Have you gotten a weather report for S. LA?
I don't mind the rain, but lightning is a different story. Hoping we won't have to cancel. Good luck if you get to go crappie fishing.........

Thanks, Beaux. I really appreciate the help you guys have provided. Makes me feel better seeing the 14 spec catch. By the time we get there, maybe the water will have cleared. If not, we can try Bay Sansbois if the weather doesn't go bad on us.
