    Were there blood lines in the egg sacks if so she was finished spawning and her body was desolving the remainder of the eggs. A natural occurrence.

    Everything is set back a little from that mid February winter storm....Whites do spawn after blacks...like Chip said, a small remnant egg sac is normal and will be dissolved shortly

    Water was high and in the trees this spring so I think they had plenty of spawning opportunities. Just a guess, though, as I'm no wildlife biologist!
