If you are an amateur, yes. If you are a veteran crappie fisherman, definitely not. Interesting view though.

You need to be very tech savvy to set one up and operate....it takes a lot of patience to learn it....at least I'm told..

I been crappie fishing for 60 years...i don't need it. I would rather fish without it, rather watch my poles and line than look at that screen all day.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Some guides have them. If you put together a group of friends to split the cost of a trip, you could get your answer and a jump start on setup and operation. We went with Living the Dream Guide Service on Toledo Bend. Weather was bad, but we still caught fish. Had a great Live Scope lesson. We had 8 guys on a pontoon boat, so the price wasn’t bad at all. They have rental cabins too. Great folks!!

Easily answered Amateur Yes- Veteran Yes- Guide Yes To qualify = If you'd rather SHORTEN(enhance) your day w/success- most successful, bottom-line results with ANY endeavor should be, IMHO, short vs long. Now, that being said, even with visual knowledge gained w/LS AND visual lure placement to more sizeable fish displayed on-screen, they still have to be willing or agitated into biting! Last q & a is this...as a non-professional, but avid(2 - 4 days a week angler(retiree)---do I own one= Yes, but, because I own/fish an armada of boats both Salt/Fresh and have mine configured in a portable, detachable box etc., I only ENJOY it a small amount of time, for now. It does exactly what it is designed to do, but the amount of successful, shortened trips with the SIZEABLE, displayed targets will ALWAYS depend on the fish mood...take that to the bank! Situation- A single, male adult on the "prowl"...would you prefer to "shop around" at just any establishment(possibly even bottom-line, successful in the past) OR have visual/real time intel of HOT BABES BY THE TRUCKLOAD?? OOps, yeppir, they STILL gotta take the bait...YOU!! I rest my case your honor.

I tend to agree with this and what prefers shiners said about watching a cork go down! I'm 51 and still LOVE to see that cork go under! Now with that said, I do have a buddy that has one and he admitted to me that sometimes he watches the screen more than just enjoying the fishing. Can it help you catch more fish? - YES but ONLY if they are willing to bite. To me, I would think the most valuable part of it working would be if you saw that there were NO fish there, to try somewhere else and not waste your time on fishing an area with no fish. Not sure how good it would work in shallow water either.

A Great Tool like any other..I Fish primarily my home lake..
Right now during the spawn it is covered up..With Boats even during the week..
You can't fish the bank or cover you can see..It has already been raked clean..

If I didn't have livescope to see the cover others can't I wouldn't catch very many fish..

Just Another tool in the tool box....

Want to help fishing..Stop the use of live bait.....Artificial Only....During the Spawn...
