We drove down to the Bistineau damn Sunday, the lake was still about 3.5 ft above pool (has been above flood stage for several days) with water flowing very strong over the spillway.
Saw lots of dead salvina rafted and piled up about 8 ft high in the trees below the spillway that had washed out, and the lower lake looked real good.
There is still some of the salvina hung up in the cypress trees in the lake and like Charlie has said sadly I could see a little green in the hung up salvina.
on the upper end of the lake there is lots of dead salvina floating and flowing south. no doubt the winter freeze and high water flood has helped the salvina situation in the lake but I am not sure
just how much. But it does look like the spring spawn and the bream fishing will be good until the hot weather starts the salvina growing and ruining the lake again. I am planning on giving it a good try just as soon as the WLF and Parish open the lake up to boat traffic hopefully the end of this week.
