I've heard of good reports on Caddo if you know where to go, but it's a big lake and most bream I've caught there are small to average size. Black Lake in Hosston has some big bream, but with so many cypress trees in the lake, I've found them sort of scattered. What you do catch though is typically on the bigger side. This is an older picture of the catch with my daughter a few years ago. Only pic I could find right this minute from there. I realize these are mostly red-ears which get on the larger side but the sunfish are also hefty.

Okay, always wanted to fish Yucatan, each time I went there the river was in it . What Gauge do you watch and what stage can you start fishing it? Don't want any secret spots just when. Any info would be great. I'm from Denham Springs so not like I would be wearing it out. Thanks !!!!!!

I read an article once about the bull bream in Yucatan of 1#+ and it said Vicksburg river stage should be around 19’. We went there several years back when it was near that stage and caught over 100 but mostly medium size not bulls and plenty catfish biting.

I live on a lake that is fed by two rivers. The Black river and the Red River. They in turn are fed by many water systems. Our annual flood waters keep us pretty stocked.

We used to catch bream like that along the Mississippi River in the oxbows. We just don't find many these days. There's no better fight and the eatin is pretty darned good!!
