Looking for experts advice (that means from you guys and gals!) about 12volt trolling motors WITH SPOT LOCK!!! Only 3 requirements I have is it has to have spot lock and has to be foot controlled and has to be a 12 volt system! Don't need anything that has integrated depth finder or any of that stuff, just need to update what I have to one that has SPOT LOCK! Any recommendations (or cons) you all could give me and why are greatly appreciated! It will be going on my little 15' jon boat so I don't need anything that can pull a wake boarder behind me either.

Like u Dwyane, I’ll be upgrading mine....Hope to get one more year out of it, then I’ll be buying that Minn Kota Terrova 12 v 55 lb thrust....also slowly switching to Lithium batteries...

I’ve only used my Terrova a few times, but the spot lock is great. I’m having a little trouble with the auto pilot feature, which may be operator error.

If you get straight Terrova without link set up no programming to remote. Just a couple of commands to learn on auto pilot. Love mine and would be a lot nicer with new improved spot lock. Have never used my pedal but being electronic lots of guys don’t like it. The motor you want doesn't exist far as I know. The ultrex has cable steer and spot lock but only comes in 24 volt. One thing you need to do is jump in boat with someone who has a Terrova that you could hook up pedal and try to see if you could live with it.
I did some research and think the problem was me using advanced auto pilot while slow trolling. if you get off course, it will suddenly turn and speed up to get you back onto the line you set. I thought the wind wasn’t too bad yesterday, but there were a few gusts that may have contributed to it.
Cray is exactly right about finding someone with the Terrova to test the pedal. I didn’t have much experience with foot pedals, so it isn’t a bad transition to me.
